Get ready for winter with a Tangelo Seasonal Health Check

20 Oct 2026

Travel safely and with greater peace of mind this winter with a Seasonal Health Check from one of our Bosch-certified Tangelo Service Centres. Available at our Torbay, Exeter and Plymouth locations, our Seasonal Health Checks are designed to help make sure your vehicle is ready for everything winter has in store, from wet roads and freezing temperatures to those longer journeys visiting family and friends.

Whether you drive a petrol, diesel, hybrid, or fully electric vehicle, our technicians will check key components of your car and highlight anything that may require attention. Wondering what's included? Here's everything you need to know.

Seasonal Health Check for petrol, diesel, and hybrid vehicles: £39.99

Our £39.99 Seasonal Health Check includes an inspection of important components including your tyres, brakes and undercarriage, alongside a range of essential fluid checks and top-ups. The aim is simple: to identify potential areas of concern, help keep your vehicle in good working order and give you greater confidence on the road this winter.

Tyres, brakes, and undercarriage

Your tyres are your car's only point of contact with the road, making their condition particularly important during the colder months. Wet, icy and snowy conditions can increase stopping distances, and worn tyres can make matters worse. The legal minimum tyre tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm, so our technicians will check your tread depth and general tyre condition to help make sure you're ready for the road ahead. We'll also inspect your brakes and vehicle undercarriage for any areas that could require attention.

Antifreeze top-up

Regular maintenance becomes even more important during winter, helping protect your vehicle from cold temperatures and potentially preventing more expensive problems further down the road. As part of your Seasonal Health Check, our technicians will check your vehicle's cooling system and top up the antifreeze where required. This inspection may also help identify small leaks or other potential issues requiring attention.

Windscreen washer fluid top-up

Winter roads generally mean more rain, road spray, salt and grime finding its way onto your windscreen, so you may find yourself reaching for the washer fluid more often. We'll check and top up your windscreen washer fluid, helping you maintain a clear view of the road ahead throughout the colder months.

Engine oil top-up

Maintaining the correct engine oil level is essential for protecting your engine and keeping your vehicle running as it should. As part of the Seasonal Health Check, our technicians will check your engine oil level and, where required, top it up by up to one litre.

AdBlue top-up

If you drive an applicable diesel vehicle, we'll also check and top up your AdBlue. AdBlue, also known as Diesel Exhaust Fluid or DEF, works with your vehicle's emissions system to help reduce harmful nitrogen oxide emissions. Keeping your AdBlue topped up is important, as allowing it to run empty can prevent some diesel vehicles from restarting. It's also important to look after your Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Regular appropriate journeys can help your vehicle carry out the regeneration process needed to manage soot within the filter.

Wash and vacuum

Who doesn't love getting back into a freshly cleaned car? Once your Seasonal Health Check has been completed, we'll give your vehicle a wash and vacuum, so it's ready to head back onto the road looking fresh.

Seasonal Health Check for electric vehicles: £59.99

Electric cars have different components and technology to petrol and diesel vehicles, which is why we also offer a dedicated EV Seasonal Health Check for £59.99. Alongside the Vehicle Health Check and wash and vacuum, our electric vehicle Seasonal Health Check includes some additional areas specific to EV ownership.

Battery health report

Your high-voltage battery plays a crucial role in keeping your electric car moving, and colder weather can affect EV efficiency and available range. As part of our EV Seasonal Health Check, we'll carry out a battery health evaluation, also known as a State of Health (SoH) Check, to assess the capacity and general condition of your vehicle's battery and identify any areas that may require further attention. This gives you useful insight into the health of one of your electric vehicle's most important components.

Software evaluation

Modern electric vehicles are packed with technology, and keeping relevant vehicle software up to date can be an important part of looking after your EV. As part of the check, our technicians will evaluate your vehicle to identify whether any applicable software updates may be required. As Tangelo works with vehicles from a wide range of manufacturers, the availability and process for individual software updates can vary by make and model. If further manufacturer-specific work or a charge is required, our team can advise you.

Key fob battery check

The last thing you want on a cold winter morning is a key fob that won't play ball. We'll check the condition of your key fob battery as part of your Seasonal Health Check and let you know if it needs replacing.

Please note that there will be an additional charge to replace the key fob battery where required.

Stay safe on the roads this winter

Getting your vehicle winter-ready is one part of preparing for the colder months. It's also a good idea to keep a few essentials in your boot in case you encounter bad weather, delays or an unexpected breakdown.

Consider keeping:

  • A fully charged mobile phone or portable charger
  • A blanket
  • A warm coat
  • A torch
  • Your breakdown cover details
  • An ice scraper
  • De-icer
  • A warm drink and snacks
  • Bottled water

A little preparation could make a big difference if your journey doesn't quite go to plan.
